Why NM CERG?

Clean Energy in New Mexico

In March 2019, New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham signed Senate Bill 489, the Energy Transition Act, setting a zero-carbon standard for 2050. Through the Energy Transition Act, New Mexico will establish a pathway for a transition away from coal and carbon-based energy. The act also includes workforce training and transition assistance to communities that will be affected by reductions in carbon-based energy.

Clean Energy at New Mexico State University

NMSU is a research-based institution with strengths in 1) Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, 2) Biomedical Science, 3) Energy, Environment, and Water, 4) Food Production, Safety, Science, and Security, and 5) Transforming STEM Education. Within the focus on energy, NMSU places priority on advancements in clean energy.
