Clean Energy at New Mexico State University
NMSU is a research-based institution with strengths in 1) Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, 2) Biomedical Science, 3) Energy, Environment, and Water, 4) Food Production, Safety, Science, and Security, and 5) Transforming STEM Education. Within the focus on energy, NMSU places priority on advancements in clean energy. The Renewable Energy and Thermal Systems Laboratory (REThermS Lab) works toward the development of economic solutions through multidisciplinary research. Their goal is to provide renewable and alternative energy storage, increased transmission capacity for renewables, and to make renewable energy utilization more efficient.
NMSU is also home to i-CREW (Innovation and Commercialization for a Regional Energy Workforce), a U.S. Economic Development Administration-funded project focused on clean energy as an emerging economic opportunity to create and retain jobs, enhance commercialization and innovation, and foster regional connectivity in New Mexico.
