FIRE Venture Fellows is a competitive program training NMSU and UTEP students in venture capital and startup investment. Over one semester, fellows gain hands-on experience evaluating real companies and developing investment theses in their chosen sectors.
Eligibility
We serve undergraduate and graduate students from NMSU and UTEP interested in venture capital, investment, and entrepreneurship. Fellows are selected through a competitive application process each semester.

Turning University Talent into Startup Investment Leaders
The Fourth Industrial Economy (FIRE) Venture Fellowship. Is a competitive program focused on training Borderplex University students in venture capital for the benefit of the regional startup ecosystems.
The FIRE Venture Fellows will undertake a one-semester training and apprenticeship. Over the course of the semester, fellows will learn about investment, venture capital, and startup entrepreneurship. Designed for undergraduate and graduate students from NMSU and UTEP, the Fellowship prompts participants to put this learning to practice by creating investment memos on real companies, creating their own investment these and working within their desired industrial sectors.

The program starts on March 3, 2025 at NMSU and UTEP.
There are hybrid, virtual and in-person meetings at NMSU and UTEP.
Internship opportunities available at Venture Capital firms upon completion of the fellowship.
Real-world curriculum based on experience in seed VC, M&A, and IPOs.
The program is available at no cost for NMSU and UTEP students.
