New Mexico Comprehensive Energy Transition Strategy

Program Overview

EMNRD strives to make New Mexico a leader in developing reliable energy supplies, energy-efficient technologies and practices. In partnership with NMSU’s Arrowhead Center and College of Engineering, EMNRD is seeking input from community and expert stakeholders to inform New Mexico’s Comprehensive Energy Transition Strategy.

NMSU will facilitate a series of workshops around the State of New Mexico to engage stakeholders and gain critical insights on energy transition needs and
opportunities. This input will aid us in developing actionable strategies to meet the state’s energy transition objectives.

The Comprehensive Energy Transition Strategy (CETS)

A priority initiative of the State of New Mexico and the Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department (EMNRD) to develop New Mexico’s first integrated roadmap for delivering reliable, affordable, safe and sustainable energy.

New Mexico State University is leading Phases II & III of this project and will host a series of convenings around the state to workshop policy solutions for New Mexico’s energy transition. The result will be compiled into a final report with actionable strategies to chart a pathway for New Mexico’s comprehensive energy transition.

Phase II of the CETS project will include an energy transition economic analysis, completion of an online energy data dashboard prototype, and a series of workshops to gain insight from stakeholders statewide. Phase III will compile these data and determine actionable policy and strategies for New Mexico.
