Mayank Pathak is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Texas at El Paso who has spent seven years developing greener alternatives to the toxic and flammable components found in conventional batteries. Through ImpactLaunch, he conducted customer discovery interviews that reshaped how he thinks about commercialization. He learned that affordability and quantified performance data matter just as much as the research itself. His technology uses waste-derived electrode materials and plant-based electrolytes, and is currently in lab validation at TRL 3-4, with next steps focused on reaching TRL 5-6 and raising funds to bring GS-BAT to market.
