New Mexico REAP (Rural Energy for America Program) Technical Assistance

Arrowhead Center at NMSU offers no-cost support to Agricultural Producers and Rural Small Businesses across New Mexico applying to the USDA REAP grant program. REAP grants help fund renewable energy systems and energy efficiency improvements to reduce energy costs and promote sustainability. We provide one-on-one consultations, proposal reviews, workshops, energy audit coordination, and access to a library of resources to help applicants succeed—especially those in disadvantaged communities, with underutilized technologies, or projects under $20,000. What We Offer:

Through NM REAP, we offer free, specialized services to help businesses and producers apply for USDA REAP grants. Our services are tailored to meet the needs of New Mexico communities, particularly those facing economic and infrastructure challenges.

NM REAP provides technical assistance on proposal development through one-on-one consultations, hands-on support, proposal reviews, and workshops. Through personal guidance, we aim for the successful submission of your NM REAP Grant application.

Energy audits are designed to assess your current energy use and identify improvements that can save money and reduce environmental impact. NM REAP supports additional audits annually in collaboration with NMSU’s College of Engineering to help meet USDA REAP requirements.

NM REAP provides a growing library of resources and guides including checklists, application templates, quickstart guides, and recorded tutorials to help you navigate the USDA REAP grant process with confidence.

NM REAP Staff

Kristin Morehead

Director Community Entrepreneurship Division

Dr. Kristin Morehead is the Director of the Community Entrepreneurship Division at Arrowhead Center. Programs under her scope are focused on fostering economic development and entrepreneurship support for small business owners and communities across the state of New Mexico. She provides leadership for the teams who run Community Sprint Accelerators, AIBE, Arrowhead Ventures, the Enterprise Advisor Network, AgVenture Center, and WE Mean Business programs among other community focused initiatives. Kristin also assists with grant management, research, production and implementation of projects, partnerships and initiatives conducted through Arrowhead that support economic development. She holds a Master’s in Anthropology, and a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Administration from NMSU.

Justin Karrenberg

Program Manager of AIBE

Justin Karrenberg joins Arrowhead as the Program Manager of AIBE, with an extensive background in educational support services. Through his experience with international institutions of higher education, Justin has developed the ability to collaborate with stakeholders across various backgrounds and programmings. Before joining Arrowhead Justin oversaw programs at the NM Alliance for Minority Participation where he developed support services for undergraduate STEM researchers at community colleges and universities in New Mexico. Justin has also worked with the Indian Resource Development office where he focused on academic and professional support to tribal entities across New Mexico. Justin holds a BA in Secondary Education and a Master of Arts in Curriculum & Instruction, with a minor in Native American Studies, from New Mexico State University.

Hashem Aliedeh

Program Specialist, Sr.

Hashem joined Arrowhead Center as a Project Specialist, Sr., bringing a broad background of experience with him. He is currently writing and managing multiple grants, including the Native American Agricultural Fund (NAAF) grant. In this role, he collaborates with Indigenous farmers across New Mexico, leading initiatives that transform agricultural produce into value-added products through freeze-drying, while expanding market access and strengthening food sovereignty. Hashem is also an MBA student at New Mexico State University, concentrating in Finance, and is currently completing his thesis titled “Adoption and Diffusion of Digital Therapeutics (DTx).”
