New Mexico Comprehensive Energy Transition Strategy

Program Overview

EMNRD strives to make New Mexico a leader in developing reliable energy supplies, energy-efficient technologies and practices. In partnership with NMSU’s Arrowhead Center and College of Engineering, EMNRD is seeking input from community and expert stakeholders to inform New Mexico’s Comprehensive Energy Transition Strategy.

NMSU will facilitate a series of workshops around the State of New Mexico to engage stakeholders and gain critical insights on energy transition needs and
opportunities. This input will aid us in developing actionable strategies to meet the state’s energy transition objectives.

The Comprehensive Energy Transition Strategy (CETS)

A priority initiative of the State of New Mexico and the Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources
Department (EMNRD) to develop New Mexico’s first integrated roadmap for delivering reliable,
affordable, safe and sustainable energy.

New Mexico State University’s work on Phases II & III of this project entail hosting a series of
convenings around the state to workshop policy solutions for New Mexico’s energy transition,
and creating a final strategy report with actionable policy solutions to chart a pathway for New
Mexico’s comprehensive energy transition. The strategy will include an energy transition
economic analysis.

Concurrently, New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology will develop an online energy data
website prototype, and determine actionable policy solutions for supporting New Mexico’s
energy transition with data
