Venture Research, Economic & Policy Analysis


Need help estimating a market size, customer demand, competitors' products, or growth potential for new products and services? The University Center provides the valuable market intelligence needed to make faster and more well-informed decisions for business modeling, plans, and expansion strategies. Sources of data for the analysis include sophisticated corporate databases, geographic information systems, surveys and social media, among many others.

Questions that Market Intelligence can address include:

  • Where should the company devote more resources?
  • Which markets should it try to infiltrate next?
  • Are there patterns to what our best customers buy?
  • What products could be cross-marketed to existing customers?
  • Into what demographic segments can the company push new and existing products


Need help assembling financial statements, in preparation for private (e.g. bank loans, angel investment) or public (e.g. grants) funding to establish or expand your business? Financial Intelligence services are designed to provide the financial guidance you’ll need to create and understand the business financials which are fundamental for securing funds from lenders and investors.

Financial Intelligence includes assisting with:

  • Estimating Startup Costs
  • Preparing Financial Forecasts
  • Preparing Capitalization Tables
  • Estimating Company Valuation
  • Developing Pitch Presentations

Economic and
Policy Analysis

The Office of Economic and Policy Analysis reports on current economic trends and policy issues in the State of New Mexico and surrounding areas. The Policy Analysis team provides relevant data on state and regional economic indicators, including current and projected demographics, employment, industry, and labor force statistics. Policy analysis also supports businesses and economic development stakeholders in the analysis of workforce requirements, availability, and identification of education/training opportunities.

What to Expect

Fees: There is no fee to participate.
This program is sponsored by the U.S. Economic Development Administration.

Time: Accepted companies will spend 4 to 6 hours collaborating with their research team. The team, in turn, will be spending additional time behind the scenes working on your company’s issues.

Logistics: You don’t even have to leave your office. All communications are handled through the phone and an online portal where a workspace will be assigned to your company.

How to Get Started

Apply: Among other things, you’ll be asked to submit economic impact data and a list strategic business issues you need help with.

Review: Your application will be reviewed by the selection team. Selections will be made based on impact of the service and resource matching and availability.

Intake Call: Once accepted into the program, we’ll schedule an interview between you and the research team to start the process. Intelligence assistance start dates will vary based on demand.
