It you have, or are interested in, obtaining Federal Funding for your small business, understanding and preparing your accounting for recordkeeping and reporting are imperative. Realizing that every small business, SBIR awardee or not, generates a wealth of information, this workshop will help pre-award and awardees see beyond the numbers and shed light on useful data to provide guidance in making effective business decisions ranging from general strategy to development initiatives.
The workshop will cover:
- How to have an adequate accounting system under SBIR/ST TR requirements
- An understanding of the grant requirements
- How to record labor distribution and timekeeping
- What indirect rates are
- How to pass a government agency audit

George G. Moker is a certified public accountant (CPA) with more than 25 years in public accounting and commercial business. From his experience in helping awardees from all agencies, he has developed training manuals, workshops and seminars in the recordkeeping and reporting compliance areas of government contracting. George earned a master’s degree in business administration (MBA) from Suffolk University.
Since 2015, Karen Medina has worked for the New Mexico Procurement Technical Assistance Center (NM PTAC) as a Procurement Advisor to small businesses seeking government contracts. She is also a Certified Public Procurement Officer with more than a dozen years of experience in state and local government purchasing and is a graduate of New Mexico State University.
