JSSY BEJARANO – Creative Director / Owner, Between Design Firm, El Paso, Texas
Jssy Bejarano is the creative director of the Between Design, where she manages design and overall business strategy. Born and raised in Wurzburg, Germany until the age of twelve. Jssy’s the daughter of a 25 year army veteran and photographer. They moved to different parts of Germany within the twelve years they were living there. During her younger years, Jssy spent countless hours in the dark room shadowing her father learning how to develop B&W photos. While her parents were at work, she spent most of her time around her Godparents, who were once their landlords. Her godfather was a graphic designer and worked in the Bauhaus Museum and worked for a well know design agency in Berlin. She developed an interest in graphic design at a very young age. Learning from her godfather and other GD’s that work there. She has a very unique thought process and technique.
Returning to the United States she finished up high school here in El Paso, TX and attended the University of Texas at El Paso to major in Graphic Design. During her time at UTEP she became the wife of another graphic designer Arturo Bejarano. Also during the same time, she was offered a full time job for one of the largest military marketing companies in the world. Working directly with over 50 manufactures such as Chanel, Pelican, New Balance, Gucci and other major name brands. After working for them for 8 years she became the youngest Senior Territory marketing and sales manager for five military PX/BX stores in the southwest and west. Due to heavy travels Jssy decided to resign from her job to return to her love and passion of Graphic Design, photography and the Fine Arts. She is now the owner of Between Design, a graphic design and design firm. She credits her strong background in growing up in Germany and her work ethnics from her family being in the military. She loves to help her community. Her work has been seen through out Mesita Elementary school. She also helps out non-profit organizations in El Paso, New Mexico and Mexico. “I’m always here to help people voice out their beliefs, passion and needs visually. The way I was taught graphic design in Europe is different from the States and I want to share my knowledge with people who are positive and interested in my work. My Godfather once told me “every single person on this planet is creative so be kind and get to know the creatives and let them be the drive to making great design.”
