What is the Arrowhead Center?
The Arrowhead Center is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit corporation, owned by the NMSU Board of Regents. Arrowhead is the one-stop-shop for economic development at NMSU, utilizing a comprehensive approach to generating income, employment, and wealth in New Mexico. The Arrowhead Center brings together diverse organizational units of the University, each addressing a different aspect of economic development. These include:

  • Intellectual Property Commercialization
  • Business Incubation and Research Park Development
  • Entrepreneurship and Business Assistance
  • Workforce Development
  • Policy Analysis

What is the purpose of Arrowhead Center?
The purpose of Arrowhead Center is to lead the economic development mission of NMSU. The Arrowhead Center works to bring together personnel and expertise to provide a wide variety of services to entrepreneurs, inventors, and small businesses.

Why do NMSU and New Mexico need Arrowhead Center?
An economic dichotomy exists in New Mexico. According to Department of Commerce statistics, some of the poorest counties in the United States are in New Mexico, specifically in Southern New Mexico. Per capita income is one of the lowest in the nation. At the same time, the existence of NMSU and national assets, such as laboratories and defense installations, provide a venue for business ideas that will impact the local economy. The State has the capacity to thrive, and Arrowhead works to build on that capacity. The Arrowhead Center was set up to help New Mexico build its economy through business development, incubation, and entrepreneurship.
